Ohne Wüste keine Weisheit
Wüsten sind allgegenwärtig. Auch wenn viele von uns weder in den einsamen Bergen, der Sahara oder im israelischen Negev leben.
Die „Wüste“ der Einsamkeit, der Arbeitslosigkeit oder des Krankenbetts führt die Betroffenen in die eigene Tiefe. Oft lernen sie sich selbst erst dann richtig kennen und werden fähig, ihr bisheriges Leben zu ändern.
Die „Wüstenväter und Wüstenmütter“ des 4. Jahrhunderts haben ihre Wüsten freiwillig aufgesucht, um Gott und das wahre Leben zu finden. Wüste hieß für sie nicht nur Trockenheit und Hitze, Askese und Verzicht, sondern vor allem Sinn und Fülle. In der äußeren Wüste lernten sie, ihren inneren Zwiespalt zu überwinden und „bei sich selbst zu wohnen“. Sie hörten auf, vor Gott und sich selbst davonzulaufen.
Auf diese Weise wurden sie zu begnadeten Seelsorgern für ihre Mitbrüder und Mitschwestern in vielerlei Nöten. Von überallher kamen Menschen zu ihnen, um Rat zu suchen und von ihrer Weisheit zu lernen.

PUBLIC READING with author Viola Doncaster – October 6, 2019
It was a sunny October 6th in East Bay on Cape Breton Island. And the sun was also shining in the East Bay Volunteer Fire Hall: Round about 80 visitors found their way to the public reading and book signing event and listened author Viola Doncaster. After two reading sessions, a dance demonstration performed by grand-daughter Isla and piano music in the background by a local music teacher, 70 copies were signed by the author and another 35 copies pre-ordered for signing.
